EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — 12 News digital content producer Sarah Bawden has been writing Street Stories for so long, she inadvertently became one.

The Rhode Island native, who just celebrated her eighth year at the big dozen, has spent nearly two years attempting to track down Mr. Potato Head statues.

The 6-foot-tall fiberglass spuds date back to 2000, when the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation teamed up with Hasbro for the "Birthplace of Fun" tourism campaign.

Bawden has discovered that more than half of them remain and is still on the hunt for the statues she believes are still out there.
