Commissions elected to study the form of government for the City of Bozeman and Gallatin County are months into their two years of work, which could end up with a ballot question reshaping local government — or yield no changes to either institution.

Residents of both the city and county voted in 2024 to study the form of government, as part of a once-in-a-decade opportunity included in the Montana Constitution. Commission members were elected in November 2024, and representatives from both met Friday to give an update on their work to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Friday Forum at Montana State University.
