ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The National Park Service reports a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to the entrance to Mount Mitchell State Park near NC 80 has reopened after the completion of two landslide repair projects.

Officials said the reopened section between mileposts 382 and 355.3 includes the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center, Craggy Pinnacle Trail, and short sections of the Mountains to Sea Trail. It also provides access to adjacent recreation areas, including Mount Mitchell State Park and lands managed by the USDA Forest Service.

The reopening marks the completion of an initial round of recovery projects on the parkway due to Helene. Additional projects are beginning in 45 remaining locations, according to officials.
