EAST CHICAGO — Members of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus are hosting a town hall meeting Saturday in East Chicago to discuss the work of this year's General Assembly and solicit ideas for new state laws to try enacting next year.

The free event is open to the public and set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the council chambers at East Chicago City Hall, 4525 Indianapolis Blvd.

"In the IBLC, we strive to be accessible and transparent, and to help our constituents understand not only what we're working on, but how they can play a role in shaping policy. When we listen, learn and work together, we build stronger, safer and more just communities across Indiana," said state Rep. Earl Harris Jr., D-East Chicago, the caucus chairman.
