A mother was arrested in Sunrise after she was accused of leaving her three children in a hot car while she went grocery shopping at a Walmart.

Ciera Washington, 29, was arrested Sunday on three counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, Broward jail records showed. Broward Sheriff's Office

Authorities said Washington took her keys with her and left the kids in the car without the air conditioning on.

The children weren't injured.

During Washington's appearance in bond court on Monday, a defense attorney claimed it was the first time she's even been in trouble with the law.

"She's never been arrested in her life. She’s residing here her whole entire life. My understanding is she has claimed disability and she is unemployed at this time," the attorney said.
