LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Texas Education Agency issued a letter last week to public school superintendents addressing concerns over educators who have shared inappropriate or “reprehensible” content on social media related to the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

In the letter, TEA Commissioner Mike Morath stated that the agency is referring documentation of such posts to the Educator Investigations Division to determine if any violations of the Educators’ Code of Ethics have occurred. Morath emphasized that while free speech is a constitutional right, it does not justify celebrating violence or targeting individuals with differing beliefs.
