A New York City man has been charged with murder after allegedly using his vehicle to intentionally hit three people, including 16-year-old Jhoanny Gomez-Alvarez , who died at the scene. The incident occurred early Saturday (September 13) morning in Queens, near Benham Street and Roosevelt Avenue.

According to the Queens District Attorney's Office, the 38-year-old suspect, Edwin Cruz Gomez , engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with the teen's stepfather after making inappropriate advances toward Gomez-Alvarez and her mother outside a restaurant. Following the confrontation, Cruz Gomez allegedly drove his Chevrolet Suburban into the group , pinning the teenager against a pole.
