Detectives are treating a fire attack at an Ayrshire home as attempted murder. ‌

Emergency services raced to a property at Girvan's Whiteford just before 11pm on Saturday night to a report of a fire. ‌

A member of the public forced entry to the home and helped rescue the 21-year-old woman within the house. ‌

Officials say no-one was injured as a result of the attack but are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Police have issued a description of a male suspect seen fleeing the scene. He was aged in his teens wearing dark-coloured clothing and a black baseball cap. He was last spotted running in the direction of Assel Place, Girvan. ‌
