A 27-year-old man was sentenced today to 12 years in prison for a drunken-driving crash that killed a husband and wife.

Jose R. Perez Santos of Fort Wayne pleaded guilty to several charges – operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury and two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, along with an infraction for driving while suspended – by entering an agreement filed in July.

Allen Superior Court Magistrate Samuel Keirns accepted the agreement today that dismissed felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and criminal recklessness.

The charges Perez Santos pleaded guilty to carry a sentence up to 41 years in prison. However, the plea agreement limited his time in prison to 12 years.
