BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Multiple mangled cars and scattered debris lined I-95 in Brevard County Sunday morning after a wrong-way driver caused a major crash that killed three people and left six more injured.
The crash happened just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14 in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Wickham Road, according to reports by NBC affiliate WESH.
The Florida Highway Patrol said traffic cameras captured the moment a 34-year-old woman driving a Toyota Corolla made an illegal U-turn on the highway and started driving the wrong direction.
According to troopers, the woman, from Cocoa, had been heading in the right direction on I-95 until she made a U-turn near Viera Boulevard and started driving southbound in the northbound lanes.
