The turf war over the Progressive Conservative Party name continues with the Alberta government sending a second cease-and-desist letter in attempts to block its use.
Former United Conservative Party (UCP) MLAs Peter Guthrie and Scott Sinclair have been leading the charge to rebrand the Alberta Party as the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party with the paperwork for the name change submitted to Elections Alberta at the end of August. In a Monday social media post on X, Guthrie said the UCP government has sent a second cease-and-desist order, saying it reveals “their deep fear of genuine competition.”
