Thomas Cooper, 5, of Royal Oak died in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber fire Jan. 31 at the Oxford Center in Troy.

The CEO of the Oxford Center and three workers are criminally charged in Thomas' death. Monday, all four appeared in a Troy courtroom to determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

The first witness to testify in the case was Tiffany Hosey, who said she was fired when she raised concerns about safety.

A former employee of the controversial Oxford Center testified in court Monday, Sept. 15, that she was fired in 2024 after she expressed safety concerns about the use of its hyperbaric chambers.

Nine months after Tiffany Hosey said she was fired, 5-year-old Thomas Cooper of Royal Oak was burned alive in one of those chambers.
