The family of the late Duchess of Kent have gathered in private to mourn her passing, hours before she is laid to rest.

Royals including the duchess' husband the Duke of Kent – cousin to the late Queen Elizabeth II – and her daughter Lady Helen Taylor, were seen bowing their heads as her coffin was carried up the steps of Westminster Cathedral on Monday evening (early Tuesday morning in Australia).

Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on September 4, aged 92.

Her funeral on Tuesday will be attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla , the Prince and Princess of Wales , and other members of the royal family.
