What's billed as "The Delaware Freedom to Read Act" is now law.

With students at Wilmington's Joseph E. Johnson Jr. School as witnesses, Governor Matt Meyer signed House Bill 119 into law Monday, to address what are commonly known as "book bans" in school libraries as well as public libraries. Under the legislation, principles are established under which libraries generally would maintain access to challenged material while a review is underway. The measure also protects library employees from facing discipline or retaliation if they are acting in accordance with state principles and media content policy.
