CROWN POINT — A Gary man allegedly stabbed his mother in the back multiple times Wednesday and lit her home on fire while she was in the hospital for her injuries, according to Lake Criminal Court records.

Terrance Taylor, 23, was charged Friday with attempted murder, aggravated battery, arson, battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury in connection with the alleged stabbing that wounded his mother and fire that damaged her home. He was arrested Saturday and is being held at the Lake County Jail, online court records show. His bail was set at $80,000 surety, $8,000 cash.
