Top athletics and University of Texas Permian Basin officials announced that $1 million has been raised for the university’s Champions Fund.

The goal was set in December of last year and the milestone was announced Monday in the auditorium of the D. Kirk Edwards Family Human Performance Center.

“We are so happy to have achieved it. It was very helpful that, as we spoke with every single donor, we made it clear that the goal was $1 million,” Vice President of External Relations Jacqui Gore said.

The funds raised will go toward scholarships, travel, hotel rooms, busses, meals and equipment for the teams, Gore added.
