WAUPUN, Wis. (WBAY) - Dodge County prosecutors dismissed charges against one of the Waupun correctional workers arrested in June 2024 in connection with the deaths of inmates at the facility.
Dodge County announced charges against then-warden Randall Hepp and eight employees at that time, saying that the state’s oldest prison was being operated in a dangerous and reckless manner.
Prosecutors dropped charges against Alexander Hollfelder on Monday after noting that he was on family leave for part of the time in question, and had brought concerns about one of the inmates to his superiors prior to that inmate’s death.
Charges against another worker were also dismissed this spring. One other was settled on lesser charges.
Five cases are still in the court system.
