FRANKFORT, Ky. — A Franklin Circuit Court Judge has dismissed State Auditor Allison Ball’s lawsuit against the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and implementing Senate Bill 151—relating to kinship and foster care.
Franklin Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate dismissed the lawsuit Monday, saying CHFS complied with all requests made by the auditor’s office and that the auditor had no standing to bring her case.
Ball, R-Ky., sued Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky. in May to resolve a dispute blocking a state law meant to support adults who care for young relatives who have gone through suspected abuse or neglect at home.
Beshear approved Senate Bill 151 in April 2024; his administration lauded it for trying to help children in bad situations get placed with relatives or close family friends.
