A brush fire that broke out Monday along the Santa Ana River bottom in Jurupa Valley charred close to two acres before it was stopped.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:05 p.m. on the north side of the river bottom, near the intersection of Agua Mansa Road and Wilson Street, in an area known as Belltown, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews from the county and Riverside Fire Department were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate through heavy vegetation.

No structures were threatened.

At 2:30 p.m., the brusher’s forward rate of spread was halted, and firefighters were establishing hose lays around the blaze, according to officials at the scene.

Full containment was expected by 3:30 p.m.
