DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A man is facing several charges after a fatal motorcycle crash in August.

Cayson Sumpter, 19, is charged with:

Homicide by vehicle, reckless driving

No valid driver’s license

Stop sign violation

Speeding

Reckless driving

No insurance

On Aug. 3, 49-year-old John Coons of Davenport was driving in the 1600 block of West 8th Street before being struck by an SUV, driven by Sumpter, at the Madison Street intersection, police said.

Both were taken to the hospital , police said, and Coons later died of his injuries.

Police said the crash is still under investigation.

Sumpter is in the Scott County Jail on a $11,500 bond, according to the jail website.
