John Epping had a lot going for him to ensure he had a milestone Shorty Jenkins Classic Bonspiel.

Epping captured his fifth Shorty on Sunday at the Cornwall Curling Centre , which breaks a tie with Rachel Homan for the most titles, men’s or women’s.

“I always have a good feeling coming to this event,” Epping said, after edging last year’s winner, Swiss Yannick Schwaller, in the final 6-3.

Epping had carried good vibes into the match, joining the celebration of Team Xenia Schwaller (Yannick’s cousin), who had claimed the women’s title three hours earlier.

“I love coming to Cornwall,” he said, pointing out the strong personal connections.

“I know lot of people here, playing with the local boy in Mat Camm .
