President Donald Trump threatened to declare another national emergency in Washington, D.C. if local law enforcement does not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The national emergency in D.C. expired last week after Trump announced a federal takeover of the city in August. In an early morning social media post on Monday, the president called out D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) over her city’s cooperation with ICE.

Trump credited the federal government for making D.C. “one of the safest” cities in the world in his 1 a.m. Monday post on Truth Social.

“In just a few weeks. The ‘place’ is absolutely booming, with restaurants, stores, and businesses packed and, for the first time in decades, virtually NO CRIME,” Trump wrote.
