JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Missourians against the new congressional map wasted no time filing legal challenges.

The Missouri general assembly approved a new map on Friday, likely to increase Republican representation in Washington, D.C., and there are already several challenges to this map.

Three lawsuits against this new map were filed in Missouri. Another challenge to the map is a petition , If People Not Politicians, that started gathering signatures today to put the map up for a statewide vote.

The governor has not signed the new map into law yet; it is set to go into effect Dec. 11 unless the courts or the petition stop it.

The lawsuits filed against the state of Missouri and the Secretary of State claim the process of implementing this new map was unconstitutional. Typically
