BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — Crews in the Lowcountry worked around the clock during Hurricane Helene to restore the thousands left without power, but their efforts didn’t stop there.

As one power company has continued year-round to prepare for another potential storm, they urge residents to not become complacent.

Paul Fischer, the South Carolina spokesperson for Dominion Energy said, “People say it wasn't a typical storm. And I think the lesson is there is there is no typical hurricane. Every storm is different. You have to be prepared. You have to stay vigilant, stay alert, and stay connected.”

Fischer told WSAV News 3 that Hurricane Helene was the most destructive storm to impact their power system in South Carolina.
