MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Some Memphis restaurant owners are welcoming the National Guard to Memphis after the president announced the deployment on Friday.
Mortimer's Owner Christopher Jamieson said he will offer to National Guard members who come to town at the direction of President Trump.
"So we just offered any of them that want to come in a free lunch plate just to say thank you for helping with the crime issue," said Jamieson.
"Southern hospitality, you know I'm very concerned about crime like everybody else," said Jamieson.
Citing crime as a reason, he believes there have been fewer people out and about, patronizing local businesses and restaurants.
"As far as the night time we've closed earlier and earlier and earlier because there's no traffic on the streets," said Jamieson.
