EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) - 60 years ago, The University of Southern Indiana looked much different than what the community sees today.
The university has seen more buildings on campus, more students, and much more exposure.
USI President Steve Bridges says one of the goals was to raise visibility and reputation, which happened immediately after the athletics department became Division I.
Bridges says, "We started downtown Evansville playing in what is the old YMCA building and then came to campus to play in the park and now in liberty arena with the screaming eagles and it's been fantastic. We're visiting parts of the country that we hadn't visited before with a lot more name recognition in Arkansas and Tennessee.
