QUITMAN, Texas (KETK) - Wood County voters will get to vote on 17 potential amendments to the Texas Constitution on Nov. 4.
“Texas lawmakers have proposed 17 amendments to the state constitution, and now Texans will have the opportunity to weigh in on each amendment,” Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson said. “This is an opportunity to make your voice heard about the governing document of our state.”
Among the proposed 17 amendments are a potential prohibition of capital gains taxes and inheritance taxes, a homestead exemption for the spouses of veterans who die of service-related conditions and an increase in the residence homestead exemption for school district property taxes from $100,000 to $140,000.
