EVANSDALE, Iowa — The City of Evansdale is celebrating the completion of the Lafayette Road reconstruction project. The project spanned approximately 2.4 miles from just east of Evans Road to the Elk Run Creek bridge.

After years of planning, work on the project began last fall. The road reopened to all traffic on Saturday after being mostly completed last week.

The $4.8 million project included a bike trail and new sewers. The old pavement on the road was around 80 years old, originally installed before Evansdale became a city.

Planning for the reconstruction project began in 2018.
