NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — A new report is raising questions about what a New Britain teacher told students about being Catholic, nearly eight months after she was allegedly placed on paid leave for refusing to remove a crucifix next to her desk.
Marisol Arroyo-Castro, who has taught in Connecticut public schools for 32 years, was allegedly told by her vice principal in December 2024 that she had to remove the crucifix from her desk or else she would be disciplined for insubordination.
According to the report, 7th grade students at DiLoreto Elementary & Middle School were made to feel uncomfortable about religion when they misbehaved.
