The Florida Department of Health is warning families in Brevard County about an uptick in mosquito-borne illnesses, specifically dengue fever.

Patterson is a history professor at Florida Tech. He has studied mosquitoes and mosquito control for the last 30 years. He also wrote two books about the history of humans combating mosquito-borne illnesses. He said dengue fever is caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
