The new chair of the board tasked with regenerating Middlesbrough’s town centre has discussed the attributes and challenges facing the area. The new chair is former chief executive of Middlesbrough Council, Tony Parkinson.

He set out some of the tangible results that should be visible to see over the course of the next year and gave his view on the fate of the traditional high street. The Middlesbrough Development Corporation (MDC) was created in February 2023 and is tasked with regenerating Middlesbrough town centre. As well as the town centre, much of Middlehaven falls under the MDC’s remit.
