ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police said they’ve arrested a man accused of shooting an armored truck driver and stealing $50,000 near a grocery store in southwest Atlanta on Monday morning.

“He took two or three more steps before he shot him,” said Demonte Ramsey, a witness.

The shooting happened at a Kroger located at 2685 Metropolitan Parkway in the Perkerson neighborhood, which is off Cleveland Avenue and I-85.

Shortly after 9 a.m., Atlanta police said they responded to an aggravated assault at the location. Officers reportedly found a man suffering from a graze wound to his head.

“He shot that one time, got in his car, and took off,” said Ramsey, who said he was five feet away from the guard shot.
