ATLANTA, Ga. - A north Georgia officer who was shot in the line of duty is expected to be discharged after undergoing surgery, according to McCaysville Police Chief Michael Earley.

Capt. Brantley Worley will be discharged from Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga on Tuesday after reconstructive surgery on his nose.

“This is truly nothing short of a miracle,” Earley said in a social media post. “Evil did not win. Good prevailed. And above all, God is good. He has answered so many prayers already, and we believe He will continue to guide Captain Worley’s healing.”

The incident happened in McCaysville, a Fannin County city near the Tennessee border.
