In the recent triple homicide at Poplar, 74-year-old Michael Littlebull, also known as Michael Joseph Ackerman, allegedly confessed to authorities that he shot and killed his wife, stepson and the stepson’s girlfriend at a residence there.

The Wolf Point-based publication Northern Plains Independent first reported that Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement had learned about the homicides from information shared through the Yellowstone County’s Sheriff’s office. Yellowstone County authorities said Ackerman confessed to the murders around 4 a.m. Sunday.

In his confession, Ackerman, a member of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, said all three victims were still inside the house.
