DULUTH — A Monday morning forum turned into a somewhat lopsided affair when only one of the candidates running to represent the city’s 2nd District showed up to field questions.
Diane Desotelle and Chris Adatte are running for an open seat that Councilor Mike Mayou vacated last month after purchasing a home outside the district.
Adatte previously indicated his intention to participate in the forum but did not show up for the event. He declined to respond to subsequent News Tribune inquiries Monday.
Desotelle, a retired city engineer and educator, said she hoped her opponent was well, even though he was unable to attend.
She said the city has more work to do if it hopes to keep talented college graduates in the community. She noted that about 60% of Duluth’s population is not earning wh
