Jenn Alcorn, the widow of a Frederick Police Department officer and an advocate for fallen first responders, announced that she is running for Frederick County Council District 1.

Alcorn, 43, lives in the Middletown area. She filed as a Democrat on Sept. 8 to run as a candidate for County Council District 1, which also includes Burkittsville, Rosemont, Brunswick and parts of Urbana.
