FARGO — There was little discussion from members of the public during the hearing of next year's Cass County budget, but the lone resident who spoke garnered significant support from elected officials.
On Monday, Sept. 15, members of the Cass County Commission unanimously approved a 2026 budget of $178.1 million and set the property tax cap at 54.18 mills for the year.
That’s an increase of 1.63 mills over the 2025 budget, according to the commission packet.
One Fargo resident came to ask commissioners to allocate some 2026 funding for a north Fargo senior center at risk of being shut down.
“I’m here to beg, borrow but maybe not steal, a little bit of more money to keep a senior citizen center open,” Cindy Simmer said.
