Gov. Kathy Hochul has officially endorsed Zohran Mamdani for mayor.

The move comes weeks after growing pressure from progressive Democrats to unite behind the Democratic nominee.

In an op-ed, the governor explained her decision, saying, while they have had disagreements, “I heard a leader who is focused on making New York City affordable — a goal I enthusiastically support.”

Her stamp of approval is a big win for Mamdani — who has yet to receive endorsements from other top Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
