Officials at Columbia University are still working to determine what transpired after a university graduate student was temporarily detained and handcuffed by individuals claiming to be federal agents last week.
The student was later released after they requested to see official documentation, but said it was not “legible.”
It remains unclear whether the individuals were federal agents.
This incident comes months after student activists were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement over on-campus pro-Palestinian protests.
Rebecca Massel, a journalist for the Columbia Spectator, joined “The Rush Hour” on Monday to talk more about it.
