FRANKLIN, Texas (KBTX) - The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office shut down a stretch of FM 1940 in Franklin because of a major car wreck. Authorities confirmed one person has died in this crash.

Details about the crash were not immediately released. However, the Texas Department of Transportation (DPS) later told KBTX one person was killed in the two-vehicle crash.

Later on in the day, Texas DPS said a a 2003 Chevy Malibu was driving north when the driver veered into the southbound lane in a no passing zone. The driver hit a 2021 Ford F-250.

The driver of the Malibu was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as James Lohse, 51, of Planersville.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford was taken to a Bryan hospital with minor injuries.
