LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A man is in the hospital after a shooting in Louisville’s Russell neighborhood, according to police.

Police responded to a report of a shooting and a person down near the intersection of South 24th Street and West Broadway at 8:10 p.m., LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. Ellis said the man was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive.

LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is handling the ongoing investigation. Detectives are working to learn what led up to the shooting and to determine where the shooting exactly happened.

There are no suspects at this time. LMPD is asking anyone with information to call the anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD or use the LMPD online crime tip portal .
