LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A memorial on the University of Louisville’s campus Monday night called for healing in the wake of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
UofL’s College Republicans invited other groups and city leaders to the vigil in front of Grawemeyer Hall. The hosting group also said all faiths and affiliations were welcome.
Those at the vigil say they want everyone to do their part in ending political violence nationwide.
“We meet here tonight because a hate-filled heart pulled a trigger, but we know that speech and debate are essential to our republic. As Charlie Kirk often said, ‘If people stopped talking, that’s when you get violence because you start to think the other side is evil,’” Representative Jason Nemes said.
