Detroit — The public can get a glimpse of a potential design changes and upgrades intended to make Belle Isle park, known as the "jewel of Detroit," more pedestrian friendly.

On Monday night at the park, a VIP crowd of hundreds got a first glimpse of the design concepts on display. On Tuesday, the public at large beginning at 5:30-9 p.m. can RSVP and will have a chance to see the proposals.

Meanwhile, the Department of Natural Resources, which manages the park, and the Belle Isle Conservancy have been surveying visitors about other potential upgrades to the park with an online survey and community events throughout Detroit.
