STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Plans to build a massive data center near Statesville in Iredell County are moving forward. Statesville City’s Council voted unanimously on Monday night to approve a request to rezone 350 acres from farm to industrial land.

Opponents have long argued that a data center would bring high traffic and pollution to the area.

“If you make this mistake, and you make this decision and find out later on it’s the wrong mistake, there’s no going back,” said one opponent Monday night.
