COLUMBUS, Ohio — Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio can no longer accept Medicaid payments as of Monday, cutting off access to essential health care services for nearly 22,000 patients across the state, according to the organization.
The change comes after a federal court lifted a preliminary injunction last week, allowing enforcement of a Trump-era rule that bars Medicaid reimbursements to providers affiliated with organizations that offer abortion services, even when those reimbursements are for non-abortion care.
Taylor Heger, 31, of Cincinnati, has relied on Planned Parenthood since she was 14 for her primary health care needs.
