The U.S. House of Representatives will debate and vote Tuesday on a bill that would allow 14-year-olds to be charged as adults in D.C.
D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton said she plans to speak during the debate.

Lowering the age at which juveniles can be prosecuted as adults — making them subject to prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and not by D.C.’s elected attorney general — has been at the top of the Trump administration’s agenda for the District.
“I am advocating and have advocated for jurisdiction over juveniles 14, 15, 16, 17,” U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro said in May. “They need to be brought into the criminal court so we can prosecute them.
D.C. police statistics show offenders under 18 were
