KIRBYVILLE, Texas — Jasper County ESD 3 leaders are hoping to secure a contract with Allegiance Mobile Health, saying it would help reduce long wait times for emergency services.

On Tuesday, city council members will vote on whether to provide an additional $75,000 a year to cover service costs.

“Sometimes the wait times can be excessive like an hour,” said Stephen Edwards, superintendent of Kirbyville CISD. “Students have seizures and we've called an ambulance and there has not been one available so we've used other vehicles to try and transport them.”

Edwards says that the school currently has to rely on ambulances from other cities, which means longer wait times.
