TORTILLA FLAT, Ariz. — Two young adults were seriously injured after their car fell nearly 400 feet off a cliff near Tortilla Flat on Sunday morning.
“It’s a drive he made often, and he was familiar with it," Amber Nelson said about her son. "He still has no idea what happened.”
Andrew Nelson, 21, and Maddalyn Davis, 19, were reportedly driving on State Route 88 near milepost 218 when their car went over the edge of the road.
The two friends survived, but are badly hurt. Andrew has severe head injuries, and Maddalyn has a brain bleed, a broken neck, and a broken back.
“I was obviously very panicked. That’s my daughter. That’s my baby," Joyce Davis said. “My heart dropped. I didn’t know what to think. I was, honestly, I was like, 'How is my daughter still with me. That is not small. Tha
