Gray and gloomy weather did not deter police officers, firefighters, and military veterans from holding the annual 9/11 memorial service event at Pearson Park in Kinston.

On Sept. 11, the 24th annual Kinston/Lenoir County 9/11 Memorial Service and Day of Remembrance was hosted by the American Veterans, AMVETS, Post 1111, a Kinston-based nonprofit, and Greene Lamp, an eastern North Carolina-based community action agency, at Pearson Park, at 210 W. Gordon St.
