CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - “Stronger together.” That’s the slogan for the planned Queens University and Elon University merger.

The big announcement last Tuesday came from presidents of both schools.

University leaders say if all goes according to plan, the merger of the two universities is set to be in place by summer 2026.

Some Queens students on campus had just heard the news, and say they’re excited for the move.

“I really love the community. It’s just a small, tight-knit school,” says Peyton Parker-Smith, a senior at Queens.

“Queens is in a nice part of Charlotte and it gave me the best opportunity for athletics and academics,” says freshman Joseph Ferlanti.

Opportunities that will now be expanded with the proposed merger between Elon University and Queens University.
